Noun Clauses: As the subject of a sentence

What is a noun clause: A noun clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a verb; however, it cannot stand alone as a sentence.

ACTING AS SUBJECTS!!!

Subjects tell us whom or what a sentence is about right? RİGHT?

Candy is fine with me

Candy is the simple subject in that sentence. İt is one word acting as the subject. Now check this out!

Whatever you want is fine with me!

OMG! Now there is a whole clause acting as the subject!
  1. Whatever you want is the noun clause acting as the subject of the sentence.
  2. We know that whatever you want is the clause because it has a subject (you) and a verb (want).
  3. We also know that it is the dependent clause because it is an incomplete thought.
